It’s coming to the end of this life management skill module. Many practical and individual skills are taught with this period, which allow me to change for the better future. It not only helps to manage individual and those skills do affect the other too.
Let me take anger management as an example. From the session of anger management, I learned to know how to define the person in flare. Actions such as clutching of fists and the usage of words are the indication of anger occurred in individual. However, when individual present themselves with anger, those action scared people and prevent other from approaching to him or her. That’s a view from outsider, the how about friends? I guess friends will suffer even more, because individual will think that “they’re my friends, so there is no harm venting my anger on them”. That’s very wrong idea that many of us had done, and I did that before as well.
And so, when this anger management skills, I learn how to handle anger and hold my breath to avoid vent them on my innocent loved. With anger management, prevent the innocent to be affected by my personal emotion too. This application have a project which allows me to analysis better about someone in anger and also find many different ways in handling anger. Those solutions that my group or, maybe the whole class had provided, allow everyone to apply when individual is furious. So, I used those solution to manage my anger too, somehow it does works!
And next, I shall continue onto personal skills with time management! Time management refers to how to make use of the time and also controlling time. Frankly speaking, the timetable in polytechnic is seriously longer than my previous school. As stated on my timetable, I always end school at either four or five, and I live far away from school which made me more deprived. Sometimes, I wonder why I can finish my tutorials and always rushing my project through. Maybe I have too much commitment? I’m not too sure. I usually blame on the timetable, and always wondering why I’m so unlucky to get such timetable.
However, when one of the groups presented their project on time management, I realized the reasons. I guess I had not been making use of my time to the fullest. I can do some studies on the bus rather than looking at the sceneries. I need not have to switch on the MSN application, which hinders me with the popping-out icon, when working on my research. I can do a timetable and encourage myself to follow the timetable, and this is when self-control plays a part.
Time management really serves as a great enriching session in everyone. If happened to realize, most of the teenagers, or even adults, are usually late for project discussion and meeting-up with friends. Excuses such as “ I can’t wake up, that’s too early” or “ sorry, I was doing my stuff and didn’t realize time passes so fast” are always used to make up for their mistakes and wrong. Sometimes, I got sick and tired of all these reasons from my pals for coming late. Coming late about 30 minutes I can accept, but coming late for an hour or two is really ridiculous. That’s when individual poor time management affects the others.
As mentioned above, working on projects are not individual’s responsibilities but as a group. Once a member is late when the discussion is started long ago, it’s kind of troublesome for explanations and time is wasted again. Hopefully, after the session on time management, everyone knows how to manage their time better, and get away from stress when there’s actually sufficient time. So, 24 hours for individual is enough. I learned prioritize my choices, things that are important and urgent should be done first, urgent matter should always come first and leave those entertainments aside until tasks are completed.
Getting on, self-control serves necessaries to individual too! In many times, I need to control myself from playing games, chatting on the phone, venting anger to those innocent, and also my emotion. Self-control plays an important role in everyone’s life. Controlling refers to managing individual self well, or getting away from unnecessary desires. I always like to play online games after my tutorials to reward myself, but sometimes I guess I’m going overboard as I can spend 2 hours on those not beneficial technological programming and it spoils my eye sight!
With better understanding on self-control, I slowly get away from desire of playing games, and find other more beneficial entertainment like taking a short nap to replenish my energy. As mention on time management, self-control enables me to control my time and keep track time. I tried to control myself, retaining myself to do those unnecessary stuffs and have more time to spare for my studies and my loved.
During the group assignment 2, my group had chosen self-esteem as our topic for our project. When working on this project, it doesn’t only using the reference taught in this module but also we have to find out more about self-esteem. Self-esteem reflects the presentation of one self and self worth. It can also be referred as the pride or owns self, does the person had the confident to take up the challenge? At the previous post, I mentioned that I’m equipped with high self-esteem, so I’m not very sure about those negative thoughts of those with low self-esteem. So in this project, we need to look on to the problem, imagine ourselves as the victim to find solution. Through discussion, I realised that there’re actually various solution to the low self-esteem. Approach to friends, families or even help hotlines can encourage individual to be more confident and interactive with others. With the examples given from this module, I understand the various indication of individual having low self-esteem and able to encourage those who face difficulties.
I really enjoy working in the team with my LMS group members! They’re really fun and loving, never forgetting to crack some jokes when we’re running out of ideas and solutions. Works are assigned to each another, and we kept track of the deadline for the submission of our project. I guess the only problem that we encounter is time. Although we’re able to submit our work on time, but I found it quite difficult for everyone to gather and working on the project. We come from different courses; classes and our timetable are different. Moreover, some of us have CCAs which added on to the problem. Lucky, we tried hard to search for time for project discussion.
As this module is coming to this end, I guess it’s about time to analyse myself in terms of those personal skills taught during this period of time. I can’t say everything is prefect, but I tried to use those appliance taught in this module on my life. For example, time managing on my studies and commitment, learning how to spend my time well. Major exams are on their way, and this is when I can use time management to search for more time for my studies. I will tried to come out with a timetable for studies, getting my siblings to monitor me, keep an eyes on me, making sure that I’m following the timetable.
However, without self-control, it wouldn’t work that well. I need to learn to retain myself for those unnecessary events and also learn to focus on my work. Sometimes I really get very distracted with computers, so I must control myself from those distractions! In order to prepare myself better for those upcoming events, I will choose to come out with a things-to-do list, making sure that I’m on the right track, meeting deadlines for all my assignments and tutorials. This will allow me to prioritize my work.
Another thing is I must learn to control my temper and not letting other matter to affect me and also to affect those as well. With the experience working in a team, I will apply the positive attitude on my upcoming project to be more efficient in handling assignment.

self-awareness and self-esteem
It’s very important that everyone should know more about themselves with self-awareness and self-esteem. Self- awareness allows us to know more about ourselves, understand more about oneself, which also enable us to be more aware of individual’s feeling and behavior. I find that it’s very meaningful to get to know more about own self. Everyone had a hidden self, they just don’t expose to the others, but sometimes, humans don’t know about that hidden self. Or maybe sometimes they don’t know why they had a different thinking or behavior from the others. We usually have the wrong impression on ourselves, hence it’s best to know more about ourselves, understand what we want and know what we are exactly doing. And also best to know the true person in the deep side. To understand more about other, understand one self first.
On another hand, self-esteem also plays an important part in everyone’s life. It reflects the presentation of one self and self worth. Self-esteem refers to the pride or owns self, does the person had the confident to take up the challenge? Does the person able to gain respect from the others? It’s good to know whether we have self-esteem or not, the reason is because that’s when the performance of each self is involved. For example, if one is always walking very sloppy, it had already reflected he or she had low self-esteem. And everyone should had a balance or even high self-esteem to lead a healthy teen life, most importantly, enjoy and be yourself (: I guess im prefectly fine, i look a small personal test during the LMS tutorial today, and find out that i actually had high self-esteem!~
Actually, there are some factors which affect one’s presentation or image. And this is when self-esteem come in. when one is confident and happy with their lives; he or she will present themselves with pride, and are proud that they are in that way. Sometimes the peers around medo play a part too, they’re the one who I usually hang on with and interact with, hence their influence on us had an impact. Unexpected events also affect me too, like the death of someone close or getting poor results in examination, and i guess i wouldn't want to face those too.
In order to raise my self-esteem, I’ll definitely have to overcome those fear and sadness in my heart. I’ll find someone to talk about my problems and seek for help from my family too. They’re the one who I trust and love me the most; hence, they can give me the best solution to my worries and lead me out of the dark. I’ll also interact more and try to make more friends to build up my self-esteem too, that’s when we can to more about others. getting involved in outdoors activities is one of my choice too, I believe when one is expose to greater challenge is able to build up self-confident and experience a lot more.
I was wondering what I’ll be after five years, how much will I changed? Will I be still having high self-esteem? Or will I be still aware about myself? I hope I’ll definitely be having those important values of life. In the next five years, I’ll definitely want my friends to remember me, as someone who is cheerful which enable to look at thing with a positive mind, Sensitive to know and care about other’s feelings, outgoing which allows me to interact and made friends with them, humours which brought loads of laughter to them and independent without any worries from my peers. I hope they will still remember me as a consoler too, who help them to live themselves and walk out of the past unhappy happenings. Of course, in the five years time, I hope I can overcome my fears and also kick away my bad habit, on another hand I wish to keep all of my positive characteristics. Hopefully, I can be a greater leader in the eyes of the others and also present myself better to my friends. And also I wish to gain more confident and able to hand more difficult challenges. To build up better leadership skills, I hope to take up more tasks or event planning which required leadership skills. As for confident, I wish to overcome the fear of being on the stage, and maybe I’ll take up activities that required to be on the stage and lead the people for the events.
